Finding the heart through the center
Abdominal Therapy is a holistic approach to wellness that can be particularly supportive for those with chronic pelvic pain, challenging menstrual cycles, fertility concerns, or difficulties with digestion. This is not a single-session modality. We meet for a two-hour intake that includes a conversation and a full-body massage with an emphasis on abdominal massage. You leave the session with recommendations for self-care, and we design a tentative plan of care for working together. I recommend my “Health is Membership” package for this.
Because of the invested nature of this work, I ask that we get to know each other before you book this offering—either through a complimentary consultation, or by coming in for a massage, Reiki, or CranialSacral appointment. This also gives us the opportunity to discuss any contraindications you might have or modifications we might need to make, and to discuss timing our first session (taking into account the menstrual cycle, for those who bleed).
There are no guarantees or quick fixes with holistic treatments. Committing to this process means investing time and energy into abdominal work outside of our time together. This can be a process of openness and curiosity—and it does not have to define your life! Rather, we look at your tangible experiences and concerns, your desires, your capacity, and find a gentle path forward that honors where you’re at.
A Versatile Approach
Abdominal Therapy is a versatile modality. Clients have sought this care to support a variety of concerns, including:
Painful periods or challenging cycles
Endometriosis
Fertility challenges
Preconception care
Postpartum support
Scar tissue work (e.g., C-section scars)
Digestive difficulties like IBS or chronic constipation
Symptoms of perimenopause and menopause
Fibroids and cysts
This work is not a substitute for medical care. No medical advice is given or diagnoses offered. Rather, the aim of the treatment is to contribute to flow and balance—in the nervous system, in the tissues, energetically, and in the circulation of blood and lymph.
Abdominal Therapy is a modality that grew out of Rosita Arvigo’s thirteen-year apprenticeship to the Maya healer, Don Elijio Panti. This work is also sometimes referred to as Maya abdominal massage.
